I am a 15 year old African American Girl. I am a junior in high school. I decided to start spreading awareness about donating blood marrow when one of my friends was diagnosed with Leukemia. She found a match from someone but usually most minority people don't. Some of the children she was in the hospital with didn't find a match in time. It was heartbreaking to go up to the hospital and see their empty bed and ask what happened to them and to hear the doctor say they didn't find a match in time.

I couldn't figure out how I was going to spread awareness either until i decided a website is as good as place as any. I tried to find people to help me and either they didn't have time or had an excuse so i figured I’d do by myself. Then i asked my sister and she decided to help me. Now i am working on making flyers and brochures to spread awareness and am planning on having a fund raiser to donate to St. Jude's children’s hospital.
